City of Richmond Implements State-of-the-art Port Security System
Port of Richmond gets port-wide surveillance, security and wireless network.
Reston, Va., March 28, 2013 – Wi4Net, a division of CelPlan Technologies, Inc. and a leading provider of integrated wireless broadband and surveillance solutions, today announced that it has completed the implementation of an IP-based wireless network and unified surveillance system to provide for comprehensive security at the Port of Richmond facilities. A “carrier-class” style redundant wireless backbone connects camera locations and Wi-Fi hotspots throughout the port.
“We are extremely excited that we have been able to upgrade the security of our port facilities to latest, IP-based technologies,” noted James Bailey, Terminal Manager for the Port of Richmond. “With CelPlan’s design, we have been able to incorporate some advanced features such as network redundancy, port-wide Wi-Fi coverage in support of various applications, a unified system for all security devices, and secure wireless access into our security system from handheld devices.”
The system incorporates a combination of PTZ and fixed cameras throughput the port area, along with Automatic License Plate Recognition technology to track all incoming and outgoing traffic automatically. The system includes also analytics and intelligent video features.
