City of Huntington Beach Secures Downtown with Security Camera System
Wireless cameras throughout downtown provide successes, while system is expanded with added coverage
Reston, Va., April 28, 2014 – Wi4Net, a division of CelPlan Technologies, Inc. and a leading provider of integrated wireless broadband and IP-based surveillance solutions, today announced that it is contracted to expand the wireless camera system that it initially delivered to the City of Huntington Beach in December of last year. The surveillance system provides coverage of the high-profile downtown areas. All cameras aggregate wirelessly back to the municipal campus and police department that are removed several miles from the downtown.
“We are extremely excited with the effectiveness of this new tool, which has been in use for only a few short months,” noted Lt. Kelly Rodriguez with the Huntington Beach Police Department. “One case was highly publicized, as we placed a picture of a bike thieve on Facebook, but the camera footage has already been used in solving a variety of serious crimes. You can imagine how thrilled we are that we are now extending our coverage before the start of the summer season.”
The system incorporates a combination of IP-based megapixel PTZ and fixed cameras to thoroughly cover the main downtown areas, including the pier, pier plaza, and many bars, restaurants and open areas. The system incorporates also the ability for officers in the field to review footage from phone devices.
