Brazilian National Association of Passenger Rail Operators Selects CelPlan for Large-scale Study Project

USTDA grant funded consulting effort reviews real-time video monitoring architectures and solutions.

Reston, Va., May 9, 2016 – Wi4Net, a division of CelPlan Technologies, Inc. and a leading provider of integrated wireless broadband and video surveillance solutions, today announced that ANPTrilhos, the Brazilian National Association of Passenger Rail Operators, has selected CelPlan for a large-scale study project to review and recommend real-time video monitoring architectures and solutions for the rail industry. The project is funded by the USTDA through a $675,000 grant.

As part of the study, CelPlan will review communications systems in support of real-time video monitoring, including (1) satellite; (2) cellular 3G/4G; (3) LTE wireless; (4) standard Wi-Fi; (5) standard mobile Wi-Max; (6) Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN); (7) short-range radio communications; and (7) mesh networks.

Additionally, other aspects of the communications system review will involve (1) trackside communications; (2) interconnectivity between internal wired systems; (3) internal wireless and external wireless systems; (4) intra-train and internal on-board networks; (5) IP gateway; (6) on-board data storage networks; (7) horizontal and vertical seamless handover issues on external wireless links; and (8) coverage and multiple access issues in order to guarantee “end-to-end” delivery of real time images to control centers.

Leonhard Korowajczuk, CelPlan’s CEO/CTO: “Particularly, Brazil’s metro rail transport systems are already among the best managed and most modern in the world. We are honored to assist the growing transportation sector in Brazil with technologies, standards, protocols and a roadmap to set a global, best-practices example and further communications in an effective and efficient manner, in support of real-time video monitoring, safety and other applications.”
